Since 1999 I have worked as an independent
consultant for many organisations - writing, editing, and
producing publications on water and natural resources
development and their contribution to poverty alleviation and
improving livelihoods of the rural poor in developing countries.
I run workshops
for organisations such as FAO and World Bank in order to bring
material together from many different sources for publication.
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer with
over 30 years international experience in soil and water
engineering and management. I initially worked on irrigation
development with consulting
engineers years in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa
and spent 25 years at Silsoe College,
Cranfield University UK, teaching international post graduates, researching, and consulting on
soil and water management in over 20 different countries. During
this time I wrote several well-known books on irrigation and
hydraulics some of which have been published in Arabic, Farsi,
and more recently in Japanese.
I now work with organisations that are
looking for a professional who
understands international development, who can write
good, plain English in an interesting and informative style, who
can critically synthesise issues from a range of sources, and
who can produce well designed publications time and within budget.
